This year, my family got the opportunity to go to the Emerald City ComiCon again. Luckily, we were all able to go this time (last year Emily was sick, and mom had to stay home with her.) I must say that despite the horrid parking conditions, dreary weather, and the hordes of people that crowded the convention center, I had an absolute blast. My sister and I cosplayed this year as Daleks from the season 5 Doctor Who episode Victory of the Daleks. We wore our awesome Halloween costumes that our amazing grandma so lovingly sewed for us, and I must say that they were a ginormous hit. We seriously couldn’t walk through the atrium room (which wasn’t even the main area) without getting mobbed by people wanting our picture. Sometimes other Doctor Who characters would show up and pose with us, which was awesome! I cannot believe how many Doctors there were! We took pictures with at least 12 (maybe more) Doctors, and saw at least 20 (no kidding).
Apparently we were the only Daleks there, and it got to the point where people were literally looking for us so they could get their pictures taken with us. I felt like a celebrity! Normally I hate getting my picture taken, but it was actually quite fun to meet other Whovians, and listening to people shriek “OMG DALEKS!!!” never got old!
I also bought some cool stuff, namely a troll face button, a Forever Alone Guy pin, a snake tie (which looks quite Slytherin-influenced), and two awesome prints of the 11th Doctor and a fez-wearing Dalek.
You’re probably wondering what those pictures I was talking about look like, so now I am going to post all of our ComiCon pictures. Prepare for an awesome post that is epically long and filled with all sorts of cosplaying goodness (plus some commentary along the way)!
I’m going to post these in sections because there are so many…
Getting There, Standing in Line, and That Sort of Thing
‘Twas a stormy day in Seattle.
Waiting for the elevator in the parking garage. (Note the addition of glowing lights to the already awesome costumes.)
The insane escalators, including the rebel escalator that decided not to work on one of the days when it most needed to be working.
The line to get the badges that granted entry. So… many… people… (and that wasn’t even the half of it.)
Emily and I waiting in line. (Our lights even glowed inside!)
Still waiting. YES I AM WEARING MAKEUP, NOW DON’T YOU DARE SAY A THING ABOUT IT OR THE BASILISK WILL EAT YOU!
Never argue with a basilisk.
Emily waiting.
The lady with the umbrella just noticed us XD
(Finally) getting our badges!
Posing for our first picture.
A welcome sign for the joyous occasion.
Walking inside.
Posing with dad.
Posing with mom.
Posing against the official background (more or less.)
10th Doctor Cosplayers
This section will be all the pictures of us with 10th Doctors.
This guy was by far my favorite Doctor there. He was awesome, friendly, and we kept running into him all over the place. At one point, he even started photobombing pictures that other people took of us XD
Posing with Awesome Doctor (which is what I’m going to call him for now on.)
We met up with Awesome Doctor again, and this time he had friends, namely Rose Tyler from the season 2 episode The Idiot’s Lantern and Joan Redfern from the season 3 episodes Human Nature and The Family of Blood. (There’s even an 11th Doctor and an Amy Pond in the background!)
Another 10th Doctor who looked slightly bewildered when dad told us to stick our plungers in his face.
I think we were making him feel a bit uncomfortable XD
He got into it after a bit…
…and then he couldn’t stop laughing XD
We saw Awesome Doctor again, and this time Captain Jack Harkness decided to jump in behind us.
Another 10th Doctor and a Rose Tyler.
11th Doctor Cosplayers
This section will be all the pictures of us with 11th Doctors.
The first 11th Doctor we saw.
The second 11th Doctor we saw.
A very awesome trio of Amy, Rory, and the Doctor.
Let the epic battle commence!
Another 11th Doctor, plus a guy with an awesome TARDIS hat!
An 11th Doctor who looked to be around the same age as us. (Note the other Doctor in the left-hand side of the background.)
Two Doctors!? It’s a paradox!
An awesome 11th Doctor with a cool pose.
The last 11th Doctor we encountered.
Other Who Cosplayers
This section will be all the pictures of us with other cosplayers who were also Who characters.
A very cool TARDIS.
Another TARDIS (I love her fedora) and an Amy Pond.
The first Weeping Angel we encountered. (We were sure not to blink!)
Our second Weeping Angel encounter– this girl had one of the best costumes of the day and she was seriously creepy!
Posing with the Weeping Angel again. This time we got epically photobombed by Awesome Doctor!
Tormenting poor Amy XD
This 4th Doctor kid was awesome!
Posing with a very well done Amy Pond.
Posing with River Song.
And now for one of my favorite photos, mostly because it reminds me of how fun it was to be in the picture, I give you the Who Mob!
Just look at all that Whovian awesomeness! We’ve got a 4th Doctor, an Amy Pond, a River Song, an 11th Doctor, two TARDISes, two 10th Doctors, and us Daleks! I spotted this crowd across the room, and Emily and I were quick to run over to them. When they saw us, they were all like “DALEKS!!!” and they swiftly assimilated us into their ranks, front and center. There were a lot of people who took pictures of our mob.
Other Cosplayers
This section will be all the pictures of us with cosplayers who were not Who characters, but were still awesome.
Getting our picture taken with Darth Vader. He even knew what a Dalek was, exclaiming “Those are the cutest Daleks I’ve even seen!” when we came to get our picture taken.
Emily with the Star Wars characters (who all had amazing costumes!)
Dad’s favorite photo, Daleks and Stormtroopers!
Posing with a Jedi.
Me and an insanely awesome Beaker!
Posing with the Ghostbusters, who didn’t seem to be the slightest bit afraid of Daleks.
Posing with two of the cutest kids there, Hermione and a butterfly fairy.
Emily and Link.
Other Costumes
This section will be all the photos of other cosplayers who we did not pose with, but had cool costumes.
When I saw these two, I was like “No, way! They are so awesome!” I can’t believe there were two gas-mask-zombies from the season 1 Doctor Who episodes The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances! The first thing we did when we saw them was say “Are you my mummy?”
Groose from the newest Zelda game “Skyward Sword”. This girl had one awesome costume!
Zelda from “Skyward Sword” and Sheik from “Ocarina of Time”.
Another Zelda-themed costume, the Moon from “Majora’s Mask”!
Some awesome Star Wars people.
An adorable Jedi kid.
A cool Mandalorian.
An extremely well done Batman and the Punisher.
Batman and Catwoman.
An awesome Batman-ninja!
This girl had one of the most amazing costumes there!
Hogwarts students in their natural environment (sort of).
The little girls again because they are just so cute!
Another adorable costume, an Optimus Prime kid! (It took his dad two months to build his costume out of foam core.)
A soldier from Avatar.
Definitely some of the most creative costumes there, the Sesame Street Martians!
Yes, you are seeing this correctly. That is a zombie Mr.Rogers. All of your happy childhood memories of that show have just been shattered.
Random Pictures and Going Home
Here’s some pictures of us walking around and then leaving.
Walking around the main floor.
The chaos and discord of the lower levels. See the lines over on the left? Those were the reason why we didn’t get to meet the Weasley twins… or anybody for that matter. Lines: y u no b shorter???
Leaving
I didn’t want to leave!
Posted!
Wow, our costumes were so popular that we even got posted on some sites, including the Stranger! Here’s a list of places we’ve showed up at on teh internetz:
And, of course, dad’s blog coregeek
We’ve also been posted on several Tumblrs, too, which dad is adding to his new Tumblr
Well, that’s about all for Emerald City ComiCon!
April Fool’s Day 2012
Now for a very brief description of how I trolled my friend at her birthday party.
It was nothing exciting, really. I just wore makeup and a skirt, which is completely out of my element (and comfort zone. I actually ended up looking like a Hogwarts student with my Slytherin tie… and troll face button.)
Slytherin is awesome.
I b trollin’.
Again, no comments about the makeup… or the skirt for that matter. And if you do, just remember…
The basilisk is always waiting to snap you up.
On that note, farewell dear readers, and congrats if you made it all the way through this monstrosity of a post!

Hey! What a great post! You guys looked AMAZING in your Dalek costumes. I was the Groose cosplayer! Thanks for taking such a great photo of my costume because I forgot to take pictures of my own costume, haha. Cheers! Hope to see you next year!
Thank you
Your costume was awesome, too! Help yourself to the photo; it is your costume after all.
It’d be cool to see you next year
I LOVED your costume! Groose is my fav character in the Zelda games.
P.S. I’m the yellow Dalek!
P.S.S. I took the pic!
